Um, actually she doesn't use a match to light the cannon at the battle of the mountain. She fumbles to light it and ends up grabbing Mushu to light it. And then the 2nd time, Cricket lights Mushus firework... tho both were planned by Mulan I think the part where she plays the game winning piece on the board game, shows more of a foreshadow of her battle field intelligence.

Its not a mistake actually its a very good detail bc mulan is left handed but when training for war back in that era you were trained to use your right arm

Did you notice this small detail in Disney's 2020 Mulan, in the title screen it reads Mulan which is a great call back to Disney's 1993 animated film Mulan....

She struck the match on the mountain that defeated the army, and she also struck the match in her friends and the emperors hearts that won the support she needed to gain access to Shan Yu on the rooftop so she can strike one more match and light the rocket that leads him to his end. Mulan struck three matches to win the war. Mushu fulfilled his promise to protect Mulan, though through disguise as the Great Stone Dragon. However, so did Mulan, she pretended to be her father and succeeded in a way that surpassed her own expectations of herself. She and Mushu learn the same lesson over and over the story, and the story invites you to be the third match lot to win the day. You learn that lesson tho never underestimate yourself and you too can succeed like the heroes from this story. This is what good writing looks like!👍

Also the GO game. GO is a strategic game about tactics that helps train leaders how to fight battles, similar to chess. Milan is seen turning the tides and winning a game of GO in one move, similar to a checkmate. This shows how she’s already good at strategy and winning against terrible odds. Really this whole song is incredibly well written back when Disneycould actually make good music.

And the moral of the story is, Mulan; never be afraid to play with matches!

It's also ironically relevant because they show in the moment not only striking a good match in the game when she moves the piece to a presumably winning move but it also shows her demonstrating that there are more than one way to bring honor and such, girl or otherwise. (And lyrics never actually use the word 'only' meaning that this particular 'way' may not actually be the only way a girl can bring honor although that particular way is certainly one[ of several] ways a girl _could_ bring honor to her family.)
